Lead Instructor: Briana Felix

Coach Briana Felix is a Tucson native who has been with LOBA since its launch in 2013. As a player, she starred at Salpointe Catholic High School and then at Avila University in Kansas City, MO, where she was a “Spirit of Avila” award winner her Freshmen and Sophomore years. Upon returning to Tucson, she continued her commitment to the sport she loves. She has served as a student manager for the University of Arizona women’s basketball program (2004), played with the Tucson’s Semi-pro women’s team, (Las Tucson Sol), and coached at various schools (Salpointe, Tohono O’odom Community College) and camps.

Briana is very devoted to providing opportunities for youth to gain access to the sport and the benefits it brings both on and off the court.

Lead Instructor: Phil Gibson

Phil loves to teach the fundamentals of basketball. It’s his belief that without the proper fundamentals a player can never reach their full potential as a player. His favorite part of coaching is watching the kids utilizing those fundamentals and achieving success. He started coaching his oldest son in 1990, then moved on to coaching AAU ball in 1996. In 2003, he began coaching at Tucson High.

His favorite quote is from John Wooden: “Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.”

Staff Coaches:

The LOBA roster of coaches includes current and former high school coaches, and D1-D3 collegiate players. The precise roster and number of coaches varies, based upon the number of LOBA participants in each session, with the goal of providing an adequate number of coaches to keep a favorable player:coach ratio.
