LOBA LEVELS & SCHEDULE
Here are a few guidelines for determining what skill level is best for your son or daughter. Keep in mind, adjustments can always be made after one or two sessions. Intermediate and Beginner sessions meet on the same days (90 minutes apart) so there is minimal schedule disruption.
BEGINNER:
Meet once per week in 2023, Sunday afternoons, 90 minutes.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED:
Meet once per week in 2023, Sunday afternoons, 90 minutes.
Each LOBA session typically spans 5 weeks. See the Schedule for the current schedule as well as our annual schedule. For help determining what level is best for your child, see skill levels.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS NEVER PARTICIPATED IN LOBA BEFORE:
Never played organized basketball before and is age 11 or under | BEGINNER |
Never played organized basketball before and is age 12 or under | INTERMEDIATE |
Has played in rec league, such as YMCA or JCC, and is age 11 or under, depending on your self-assessment of skills relative to other players in the league | BEGINNER or INTERMEDIATE |
Has played in rec leagues, such as YMCA or JCC, and is 12 or older | INTERMEDIATE |
Has played on middle school team and possess skills ABOVE most plahyers on the team or in the league | INTERMEDIATE otherwise BEGINNER |
Has played on competitive club team and is 13 or older | INTERMEDIATE |
Has played on competitive club team and is 14 or older | INTERMEDIATE consider ADVANCED |
Has played on competitive club and/or high school team. Player is looking to become best he/she can be | ADVANCED |

DRILLS & SKILLS
LOBA emphasizes comprehensive training of basic and advanced basketball skills used by Varsity, College, and European players, with a focus on offensive skill development. Drills are adapted to be appropriate for each skill level.
Typical drills for all levels include:

♦ Basketball Balance and Footwork
♦ One-on-One Skill Moves
♦ Finishing at the Rim
♦ Shooting off the Dribble
♦ Shooting off the Catch
♦ Creating Separation for Elite Shot Making
