General Information

History: The Summer Slam has been a tradition in Tucson since 1994. It is one of the largest tournaments in the Southwest, attracting a diverse mix of teams — including teams from the Western US and Mexico – that makes it a unique and competitive experience.

General Facts: The Summer Slam is held every year, generally the second or third weekend in July. Games begin Friday afternoon and conclude Sunday early evening. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 4 games.

The Summer Slam typically hosts Boys teams 9u through 15u (3rd – 9th grade) and Girls teams 12u and 14u (6th & 8th grade).

The primary site for the Summer Slam is the Sporting Chance Center, Arizona’s newest and best  indoor youth sports facility. The 40,000 square foot, air-conditioned Center, with its flat screen TVs, free guest wi-fi, large, comfortable lobby, and Play Smart. Eat Smart. Cafe, creates the best experience possible for players and spectators alike. For more information on the Center, click here.

Registration Information: We typically open registration 6-8 weeks before the tournament. Due to limited facility space, and the popularity of the Summer Slam, this tournament sells-out every year. Make sure you are on our mailing list so you do not miss your chance to register.   If you have any questions, email us at

We hope you will add the Sporting Chance Summer Slam to your annual tournament schedule. For information on other youth basketball tournaments hosted at the Sporting Chance Center, click here.
